30.3.2008 Czech Republic 3 Georgia 22
On Saturday the 29th March played the Czech national team of his penultimate match in the ME Division A. In Prague's Eden, the Czechs played their best game this year despite losing to the favourites Georgia by a difference of nineteen points. Georgia thanks to seven wins climbed to the top of the Division A, the Czech team is without a win in the last place.
Players in charge of the Czech national team coach Martin Kafka showed a spirited performance to the domestic audience. In the begginning, they kept the favourised Georgia on back feet. After twenty minutes of the game, the Czechs played well a driven lineout, Georgian defense was under pressure and collapsed the maul, for which the referee showed a yellow card for Georgian forward Sutiashviliho.
Pavel Vokrouhlík converted the subsequent penalty kick and sent his team into the lead.
Czechs' numerical superiority was unfortunately fruitless, Vokrouhlík missed a further penalty kick and the guests started to play strongly after Sutishviliho returned.
First, Malaguradze equalled to 3:3 and less than a minute later he himself cut through the Czech defence and scored with own conversion.
Po změně stran se obraz hy nezměnil, český tým dobře bránil a vynikal ve standardních situacích roje. After the break, the game didn't change, the Czech team defended well and excelled in set pieces.
However, the guests have been able to score two mre tries, but had to work very hard for the victory.
"We lost, of course, I am not satisfied. However, I am happy with the performance, the new structure of defence paid off. What we miss, however, is a will to try attack more, as if we were afraid to make a mistake. In three weeks we will face an opponent much stronger Russia who will certainly arrive with a full squad, because they attack the overall victory and knw very well that they have underestimated us twice already" Martin Kafka said after the match.
