3.10.2006 Big win in Madrid
In the second leg of their World Cup qualifier, Spain beat Czech Republic 46-17 in Madrid on Saturday afternoon. Spain won the first leg as well and so advance with an aggregate of 79-29.
In Round 5 Spain is grouped with Romania and Georgia. The winner of that round goes directly to France. The team coming second has the chance of getting in via répechage.
Spain dominated the match throughout and at half-time led 24-10 after tries by Rafael Camacho, Víctor Marlet and Javier Canosa. Estaban Roqué kicked three conversions and a penalty goal. Martin Kafka scored all the Czechs' points in the half.
Spain scored three more tries in the second half - two by Rafael Álvarez (the second after a long, specgtacular run) and another by Roqué. Andrei Kovalenco kicked a penalty goal, Roqué a conversion. Martin Pachman scored the Czechs' second-half try.
The Czech Republic team was weakened from the won which lost 33-12 in Ricany after the withdrawal of several players over a dispute with the coach.
In Round 5, Romania play Georgia on 7 October. On 14 October
Spain play Romania in Madrid. On 28 Octyober, Spain play Georgia in
Georgia.
